The Wittering's and Bracklesham Bay have been a favourite destination for a seaside holiday or a family day out for generations. This unique area on Englands south coast has a feeling all of its own where pretty lanes meander through lush green countryside and gently give way to the sea with glorious beaches that offer beautiful views over Chichester Harbour, the Isle of Wight and out to the English Channel beyond. There are 8 miles of a continuous beach which runs from East Head at West Wittering past East Wittering village and Bracklesham Bay and all the way to Selsey Bill . The shoreline of Bracklesham and East Wittering is mainly shingle at high tide but gives way to a lovely flat sandy beach and shallow waters as the sea retreats at low tide. West Wittering beach is one of the most popular beaches in south-east England with gently shelving sands and shallow beach lagoons at low tide. The whole area is internationally recognised for its wildlife, birds and unique beauty with interesting views of the Isle of Wight and Hayling Island and the lovely walk around the loop of East Head make West Wittering Beach a truly memorable experience. The highest water quality and excellent facilities have made it one of the premier Blue Flag beaches in the country and the extensive acres of neatly mown grass close to the beach are perfect for parking, and picnics. East Wittering & Bracklesham Bracklesham Bay is one of the south coast's leading centres for windsurfing and other board sports. The area is very popular with wind and kite surfers as strong onshore winds make Bracklesham Bay a great place to catch some air. A warm welcome is guaranteed to all our visitors whether here for a carefree traditional bucket and spade day in summer, or a brisk walk along the beach in winter to refresh and clear the cobwebs away. Remember to visit the beach at the end of the day when the sun is setting on the horizon for some of the most spectacular sunsets you are likely to see. |
